Tesco Affiliate Income Scam

Tesco won a trade mark action against a member of their website's affiliate scheme that attempted to earn increased sales commissions from domain names such as tescodiet.com, tescodvd.co.uk and tescojersey.com. The offending company registered as an affiliate through a program run by a 3rd party affiliate company and saw its monthly commission jump from £75.42 in April 2005 to £26,688 in May 2005. Tesco did not have to pay out the commission in the end but this highlights the importance of protecting names across all your products and service.
